The issue of identity is central to social science, as it encompasses aspects of self-determination, group affiliation, and interaction with society. Personal identity and social identity develop through social interaction and, despite their differences, are closely interconnected. In the context of globalization and cultural transformation, traditional forms of identity are being reconsidered, leading to the emergence of new modes of self-identification. This article explores theoretical aspects of the formation of personal and social identity, and their dynamics and interrelation in the context of social development. Particular attention is given to the impact of identity transformation and its role in social adaptation and integration amid such social changes as globalization and migration. The importance of identity is emphasized as a resource for social development and for addressing social challenges.
